My Author Journey to Walmart

By Asa Leveaux

"Is this really my life?"

"Do I really not have 1 book in Walmart but rather 2 books?!"

"How did I get here??"

Yes, those were my exact thoughts about one of the best experiences to happen to me as a published author. But only one of the questions deserves to be examined which is, "How did I get here?".

I could start by telling you that I realized I was a writer when I was in second grade but this is a blog not a book.

I have the ability to talk about my first book that I ever wrote and self published but that's not the one in Walmart. Plus, you have things to do today so I should stop stalling.

Here is how I took action...

  1. I considered it a possibility. You may say that I had a dream but please know that I had to wake the hell up for this or anything else to actually become a reality.
  2. I became partially deaf. I am not saying that I became handicapped but rather I made a conscious choice. The choice I made was to tune everyone that wasn't vocally in agreement of what was possible completely out.
  3. I acted like no one else. Dave Ramsey has a well known saying that is, "live like no one else so that you may one day live like no one else". I absolutely relish in his quote because I had to change my lifestyle to do what people around me weren't doing nor had the acumen to do.

As of today I do have two books, I Am Man Enough: 365 Affirmations for Men & I Am Woman Enough: 365 Affirmations for Women, in Walmart. However, the biggest return on that experience has nothing to do with money and everything to do with a mindset that is forever changed.
